Holden On's

In the fall of 1975, Ed and Theresa Alien moved to Holden, Missouri from Blue Springs, Missouri. They helped form the Holden On's with twenty couples. Harold and Barbara Steinbach were our first presidents. Barbara suggested the name for our club. Claude Ross was our first caller with wife Glenda. Graduation was in June of 1976. We have danced at Hollar Community Center for the past 31 years. The club grew to 80 members.

Here in Holden a youth club was formed in 1980 and Bill Reynolds was their caller. In 1982 Al Warren became our caller and the club went to once a month dances. We still dance the first Friday's of each month, In 1990 Bill Reynolds became our caller and has been so from 1990 to the present 2007. We now have 21 members including 6 charter members: Ernie & Ginger Smith, Ernie & Lucille Lefeure, Joe & Velda Hanna.

We have seen many changes in the 31 years our club has survived. Square dancing remains a great way to exercise, while having fun, and is also a wonderful opportunity to enlarge your circle of friends.
