K.C. Whirl-Aways

The K.C. Whirl-Aways has a long and fun history of dedicated square dancing. We had our first dance on September 22, 2006 and joined the Heart of America Federation of Square Dance Clubs in November of that year. Yes! That is right. We will be celebrating our one year anniversary in September. We were formed by Callers Mike Kelly add Pat Coster after the completion of mainstream lessons that they started earlier in the year.

We have many new and used members. Also, some of our members were originally members of the Flying Saucers youth square and round dance exhibition group that was in existence from the late 1950's to the 1970's. You may remember Frank and his Gilbert who started the Flying Saucers. We have been out visiting clubs and stealing banners in the last year and have enjoyed being visited by square dancers from many area clubs. We look forward to adding to the size of our club later this year, once new mainstream lessons have been completed.

We continue to meet on the 4th Friday of each month at our original location of Leawood Presbyterian Church. Our dedicated members love to square dance and we invite everyone to join us in the fun.

Jim Wright, Co-President, K.C. Whirl-Aways
